Bass-Baritone
Turner Staton (bass-baritone) is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. Recent credits include Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), Monterone (cover and Student Matinee performance, Rigoletto), Pirate King (Pirates of Penzance), Capulet / Tybalt (Romeo & Juliet), and Timur (cover, Turandot) with Opera Colorado in their 40th Anniversary season. In 2022, Turner finished his tenure as an Apprentice Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City where he performed in Amahl and the Night Visitors, The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, Tosca, and was featured in the premiere of Baseball: a Musical Love Letter. Additional roles include Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), and Mercurio (La Calisto). Turner has completed summer festivals at Opera Saratoga as a Festival Artist (2022) and Tanglewood Music Festival as a Vocal Fellow (2020/21). Turner is elated to be returning to Opera Colorado in the 2023-24 season, and will be featured on the mainstage in productions of Don Giovanni (Masetto, Leporello cover and Student Matinee performance) and Samson et Dalila (Old Hebrew), and in touring productions of L’elisir d’amore (Dulcamara) and La cenerentola (Alidoro / Don Magnifico). Turner holds degrees from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (M.M.) and Pepperdine University (B.M.), and received an Artist Diploma certificate from William Jewell College.
